Fandango Seeks Ultimate Screams on Social Media

Online movie ticketer Fandango is using social media to celebrate Halloween. The company recently launched a ‘Scream-Off’ campaign on Twitter and Instagram to promote its spin-off scary movie hub, House of Screams. Each day, the contest will collect the best fan scream, submitted using the #FandangoScreamContest hashtag, to be featured on the House of Screams page until the final round. The winner will be announced by musician and filmmaker Slash.

Instagram Teases its Ad Strategy

On Thursday, Instagram announced plans to roll out ads in the near future, beginning on a test basis in the U.S. Instagram will allow users to maintain some control on the ads they see, providing the option to hide unappealing ads and provide feedback. Following in the footsteps of their parent brand, Instagram has the opportunity to learn from Facebook’s ad approach as it works to become a sustainable business.

Facebook Graph Search Now Lets You Find Comments, Posts

Graph search landed among Facebook’s latest updates, enabling users to search for specific topics as well as relevant status updates or comments. While Facebook users will now be able to search for ‘posts about Breaking Bad,’ for example, the update is not limited to interests. Making shared community interests more accessible, the update will ultimately give the social network a lift in promoting real-time conversations.

Bing Adds Pinterest Collections to Image Search

Bing is now incorporating Pinterest data into its image searches to further enhance a new image collections feature. The search tool, which already enables users to pin images directly from a search, will now place entire collections in a side bar among its standard search results. The update also includes a ‘View on Pinterest’ button for users to easily locate image sources.
