Nielsen Study: Trust in Online Advertising Increasing

This week, Nielsen came out with their 2013 Trust in Advertising Survey. The report reveals that consumers across the globe are looking more to online media for information on brands, which has led to an increase of trust in online advertising. The survey shows that the most trusted marketing format is owned channels, emphasizing the value on branded social channels and websites.

Lexus to Air Live Ads, Fueled by Social Suggestions, During NBC’s ‘Late Night’

“It’s Your Move After Dark,” a new campaign by Lexus, has added the brand to a list of those eager to captivate a TV audience through Twitter. Encouraging viewers’ involvement in real-time, the auto manufacturer will air a series of live commercials during ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ on NBC. Lexus will use an early commercial break and improvisational comedians to request user-generated ad concepts submitted through the #LexusIS hashtag. New York comedy troupe actors will then use submissions to guide live performances of the ads during the final commercial break.

Pinterest Shoppers Surf Products Online, but Buy In-Store

According to a study by Vision Critical, 21% of Pinterest users have bought an item in-store after interacting with a pin online through pinning, repinning or liking. Furthermore, Vision Critical found that 50% of these items bought in-store were found by casually browsing pins on Pinterest, while 10% were discovered via Pinterest searches. These stats highlight user affinity for using Pinterest as a “digital retail catalog” for browsing and buying specific products.
